Interviewer: Shailendra ji tell us about how you started to grow organic food?
Shailendra: Well, first of all I’ve never been the farmer type. My father had a farm and he wanted me to work hard like him so one day he can leave the farm to me.
Interviewer: Did you enjoy it at first?
Shailendra: Of course not! I was a young boy who just wanted to play with his friends and talk to girls…I was very shy so there wasn’t actually any girl talking (laughing)!
Interviewer: How did you start working with Organic Food LTD?
Shailendra: I was approached by one of your colleagues at the Indian competition “Young Farmer”. We spooked and he showed me that here are a lot of possibilities before us, that the market is not crowded at all and that we can open people’s eyes for the organic food.
Interviewer: What kind of food you are producing for our customers?
Shailendra: At the beginning I started with potatoes, tomatoes, cucumbers and very small amount of grapes. Now we operate on over 500 acres and we produce over 50 different vegetables. Also we have another 100 acres only with fruits, forest fruits mainly – strawberries, Oranges etc.
Interviewer: Did you breed any animals?
Shailendra: Yes, we have Buffalo, cows – from which we get the best organic milk…
